Alberta A. Arviso, PhD, a learning support specialist in the University of Arizona Health Sciences Office of Diversity and Inclusion, received the Sweet Grass Award from the Society for the Psychology of Women.
Dr. Arviso, a member of the Navajo Nation, was recognized for her dedication in service and outstanding professionalism in mentorship, research, education or advocacy in support of Indigenous women.
She received her award during the Society for the Psychology of Women Business meeting and awards ceremony Aug. 5 in Washington, D.C. Dr. Arviso works with the Arizona Indians into Medicine program (AZ INMED), which seeks to enhance the recruitment, retention and graduation rates of American Indian health professions students.
