The Summer Medical & Dental Education Program (SMDEP) was founded in 1988 by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to increase the number of highly qualified medical school applicants from minority groups that were underrepresented in medicine.
Today, the free summer program takes place at more than 11 institutions and includes academic and career experiences that support dental and medical school preparation.
Applications for the 2014 program are now being accepted here. The application deadline is March 1, 2014.
